Marlina Medrano Memorial Fund

Donation protected
(Marlina and her son, Ben)

On Friday, May 12th, Marlina Medrano was killed by her ex-boyfriend in the nursing home where she worked as a nurse.

Although she had an order of protection against him, he was still able to shoot her and two others before turning the gun on himself. http://wkbn.com/2017/05/12/active-shooter-situation-reported-in-licking-county-ohio/

As classmates, friends, neighbors and co-workers of Marlina's, it was hard not to warm up to her infectious smile and wild and crazy spirit.

Marlina leaves behind her son, Ben, who is in college, and was her pride and joy. We'd like to help him out with his needs in whatever way we can. To that end, monetary donations made here for Ben will be going to his 529 college fund. Marlina's sister, executor and Ben's Godmother, Alissa Medrano Woolard,  will be handling the funds we raise.

To honor her and help other women who are victims of abuse, we'd like to help The Center for New Beginnings in Licking County with their needs. https://www.thewoodland.org/center-for-new-beginnings/

If you'd like to contribute with a non-cash donation, @Jenniferkinney contacted The Center for New Beginnings and here is a list of what they could use to help the women in their shelter:
