Life for my family has forever changed; it will never be the same after October 29th, 2023. My mother, Marlys, passed away suddenly, and that day marked her final farewell. I know she touched the lives of so many and meant the world to them. She will be dearly missed. I long for those phone calls, the soothing sound of her voice, and her wisdom. I understand she was that pillar of support for many in her community.
I want to offer the opportunity for others to join us in celebrating the life of Marlys Daugherity. Over the last eight months, my family has endured unexpected tragedies, and my mom was our rock, not only for me and my sister but also for my niece and our entire family as well as her dearest friends. It’s difficult to accept that she’s no longer with us. My mother also taught me that it’s okay to seek help, and you’d be surprised by those who come to your aid.
Marlys will be laid to rest at the Odd Fellows cemetery in The Dalles, next to my father, Richard. She had a deep love for flowers, and if you’d like to contribute, I’ll ensure they find their way to her final resting place. Marlys was never one to make a fuss about herself; she always preferred to focus on others. However, now it’s our turn to honor her. We’ve decided to hold a celebration of Marlys’s life on June 8th, so family and friends can come together. This celebration will be at the Granada Theater in downtown The Dalles. This is the theater where my mom, dad and sister took me to go see Star Wars!
Marlys was loved by so many, and now we have the opportunity to reciprocate that love. I believe she can feel it, and she’ll be looking down on us, with her warm smile and a cup of coffee in hand.
We are immensely thankful, and we invite you to share your memories and love with us. From Michael Jon, Elisha, Ryker, Ryan, Nathan, Shauna, Luke, Jaime, and Jesse, our hearts are filled with gratitude.
