Help Marlys: A new amputee

I am writing this on behalf of my step mom, Marlys Parish (Goodwater). I met Marlys a few years ago when I discovered her youngest was my half sibling. Since then she has welcomed me and my family with open arms.

While picking up the pieces from their house fire, and her wound from a brown recluse spider bite, Marlys got incredibly sick and was diagnosed with charcot foot. She has been battling with her leg since early 2021, after 3 failed reconstructive foot surgeries, while she fought hard, the doctors said “she fought the good fight” she had to make the tough decision to amputate her leg.

Marlys graduated from Pius X in ‘88 and served in the air national guard and started her studies at St. Mary's college. Once graduated she started working for the state of Nebraska for the department of health and human services, she had to medically retire at age 48. This was after 25 years of service, and she was proud to have earned the admiralship in the Nebraska navy.

Marlys has two adopted children who have developmental disabilities, and a third child who is battling her own chronic illness. Marlys has devoted her life to helping and supporting others and ensuring they could have a better life.

Due to her amputation, Marlys will have to attend rehab, make accommodations to her home and overall many life alterations. Due to her early retirement she is struggling to understand where these funds will come from. I am asking for donations to help Marlys set up her new life without financial hardships.
