Help Marouane get treatment following his stroke

Assalamu alaikum and Hello.

I’m Marouane Bouchami (Abdul Goffar/Fokhrul), aged 41, from Burnley, UK.

In October 2021 and January 2022, I suffered two strokes. The first was mild, but the second was much more severe and life-changing. I was hospitalised for 4 months. I completely lost my speech, the mobility of my hands, arms and legs, my balance, and my ability to swallow. I had to be fed via a tube through my stomach for almost a year.

During my hospital stay, I underwent regular physiotherapy, and I was thankfully able to regain some mobility in my hands, arms and legs by the time I was discharged, Alhamdulillah.

Following my discharge from hospital, I was still unable to speak and swallow, and I continued to be fed through the tube in my stomach. I was able to walk very slowly and for short periods using a walking stick, as my balance remained unsteady. Now, after almost two years, I am still suffering from the effects of my strokes. I have limb weakness, especially on my right side. This has made simple things like getting out of bed in the morning, dressing myself, using the bathroom and taking a bath very difficult, and I require assistance with all of these basic tasks. I still suffer from problems with swallowing, and although I am no longer fed through a tube, my diet is restricted and has changed considerably as a result.

But most grave to me is the loss of my speech through severe dysphasia and dysarthria. Despite having speech therapy, I am still not able to communicate. This has made my life very frustrating, challenging and difficult. I have three children, aged 12 and under, and it is especially important to me to be able to communicate with them as they grow up, as they will need guidance to steer them through life.

I am now seeking treatment from the Institute of Neurological Recovery in Florida, USA.

The total cost of the treatment is £17,000, as outlined below:

Breakdown:

£13, 250 - 2 course treatment

£3,500 - travel and accommodation costs

£250 - miscellaneous costs

I humbly request your help in raising the funds for this treatment, as I am unable to afford it otherwise. Shifa comes from Allah alone and this treatment could change my life for the better, if Allah wills. For nothing is impossible for Allah. I must try.

I wish to update you on how my fundraising effort is going, how some of the funds have been used so far, and my plans In Sha Allah:

£850 was used to pay for the initial medical consultation with the clinic in September 2023;

£1,700 was used to pay for the deposit to secure the appointments for the treatment.

My treatment, which consists of two appointments, has been booked for Autumn 2024.

I hope to travel to the USA at the in Sha Allah.

In addition to the donations received on here, I have managed to raise a further £4,000 through offline donations and my own savings.

This means that I have raised a total of £8,500 so far Alhamdulillah.

However, this is only half of my fundraising target of £17,000.

I still need to raise a further £8,500 before I travel to the USA In Sha Allah.

I ask you to please share my appeal widely, with everyone you know, so that I can reach my target and be able to receive the treatment In Sha Allah.
