The year 1999 Marquis Jackson was wrongfully convicted of a crime he did not commit. After being falsely accused and sentence to 45yrs in prison. He maintained his innocence and continuously appealed his case even when being denied. He kept his faith and strong belief in God that one day he would be exonerated. He stated that he has always been a innocent man but was labeled as a criminal. Something he never was, Never had to be or will ever be. Jackson had a very supportive family he had no reason to hurt or harm anyone. After spending 19yrs in prison, On May 2, 2018 he walked out of the New Haven Court House as a free man. One of the best days of his life.

Leading to an investigation by the federal defender office. That office team discovered nearly 140 pages of phone records that had been collected by an office investigator during the initial prosecution,  but had not been logged into police evidence or shared with defense’s lawyers. The Federal defenders found that the new evidence and new interpretation of the previously presented evidence proved that the calls made on Butler’s stolen cell phone did not originate in New Haven as alleged, but rather Bridgeport inwhich proves Marquis Jacksons innocence.Jackson wants to Thank Horn and his lawyers for turning evidence over to his lawyers that led to his release. Jackson states that he is happy, humble and ready to begin his new life.  He appreciates his lawyer Daniel Lage and his defense team.

Now that Jackson is a free man he wishes to spend time with his family, finish working on his first book , continue writing scripts for plays and to pursue any opportunities that come his way and look for work. He plan to mentor inner city kids. In addition, he has been in association with with the Innocence Project in an attempt to help others who have been wrongfully convicted. We are raising money to help Jackson with medical, housing, food, clothing Etc. We will greatly appreciate any amount given. Please spread the word and share this link Thank you.
