Marri Mittigar - special assistance school for refugees

Hi my name is Georgie and I am helping the local community raise some funds.

In term 2 of 2024 Marri Mittigar School for refugee students will open in the local area of Hornsby.

There is over 110 million people displaced from their homeland worldwide, 40% of them are children. In response to this overwhelming global issue, we want to share our advantage, expertise and passion for education for those that arrive in our community disadvantaged by war, conflict and oppression.

Marri Mittigar – Dharug language for “many friends” – Will have 23 children starting and we will value the language and culture of these refugee students and be tailored to their specific needs. From this safe base they can learn about being part of Australian culture with the support of the community.
