Marrow Staffing Stipend
Donation protected
Marrow Detroit is Detroit's first restaurant-butcher shop hybrid and our staff is like a small family. In times of need owners, like myself, are left with little recourse for financial support. As a restaurant that prides itself on taking care of its staff, we foresee a point in the not too distant future with the growing COVID-19 epidemic where protecting our staff from financial downturn is beyond our control as a small-business. Already we have had to limit the shifts of our hourly staff due to a decrease in restaurant traffic. Our primary goal as a business is to remain solvent so that our team has a job to return to. We want to be a hub for local food and retail long into the future. And while we are able to shield our salaried staff from much of the threat, for our Front of House/hourly staff who's job is dependent on restaurant traffic, the burden is beyond what our finances can sustain. We completely understand social isolation and distancing. We support those taking action to stay away from groups however, that action has a direct impact on our Front of House's livelihood. Because of this we are looking outside of our walls to help lessen the blow to members of our team unprotected in this emergency. If you have been to Marrow in the past year and enjoyed your experience, been wowed by our hospitality, or had a genuine exchange with one of our exceptional servers please consider donating to this fund. By donating to this fund you are donating directly to those most effected by the incredible decrease in restaurant traffic. Even a small $8 contribution is the equivalent of you dining in with us once during this emergency. Your contribution will allow us to put money in the pockets of our businesses most vulnerable members - those that work hourly. Immediate help could make an incredible impact on their ability to sustain over the next month when their ability to retain gainful employment is left uncertain. All of the funds will be collected into Marrows account and 100% will be redistributed to staff as "gifts" on a pro-rata basis. 100% will go to our hourly staff to supplement their paychecks this month as this epidemic and it's effects continue to unfold. This fund will be divided into "hours", and each hour will be allocated to staff to top them up to their typical hours of a work week - those maintaining more shifts will receive less of the fund, those maintaining less hours on our clock will receive more. Each hour will be rated the same (from dishwashers to severs) so while servers will not make as much as they normally would in a busy restaurant night, they along with our hosts, dishwashers, and counter clerks will all make enough to get through the month and cover their expenses.
