Mars's Top Surgery Fund

Hello! My name is Mars Hebel and I am a student at IUPUI majoring in Anthropology (the study of humans). I am a club officer for my school's Japanese Conversation Club. I am a brother, an uncle, a son, and a friend to my wonderful family and friends.

I am transgender, and while this is only part of my story it does not change who I am at my core. What it does is create more struggle in my life than the average person. Every minute I am reminded that I am not cisgender because of my chest. While I have been able to get by until now, the mental toll of being in the wrong body weighs on me every day and prevents me from living my life to the fullest.

I have found a surgeon in Indianapolis that will help me be me, but the monetary cost limits me. I need to be able to pay for school, and while I can do both, I would struggle to achieve doing so. Any amount raised here will go towards alleviating the strain the cost of surgery would put on me.

UPDATE 1 (23 Jan 2024): My consult is scheduled for March 12, and as long as all things go well I should be able to schedule the surgery at this consult. Thank you to everyone who has already donated, or will donate in the near future. There is a downpayment for surgery due at the consult, and the rest of the cost of surgery is due two weeks before surgery.

I plan on using funds donated here to help with this final bill, and when I know exactly when this bill is due I will update again to tell you all when I plan on ending this fundraiser. Again, THANK YOU to anybody who has either already donated or plans to donate in the near future. You have much more of an impact than you would ever know, and I am forever grateful for your help.

UPDATE 2 (13 April 2024): I have had my consult and the surgery date is May 1, which is fastly approaching. This means that the day my bill is due is also fastly approaching. Thank you to every single person who has seen, donated, and spread this fundraiser. It makes my day to see every person who has donated, and your messages mean the world to me.
