Martavion and his family find a safe home.

Hi,

My name is Natalie, and I am looking to gain support from the community to help one of my younger family members, an innocent victim of gun violence.

On July 19, 2023, bullets from a semiautomatic ripped apart 13-year-old Martavion's home, leaving him, his 15-year-old sister, and his younger cousin desperately looking for shelter. When the shots started, Martavion panicked and ran from his room towards the blood-curdling screams of his sister and cousin in the bathroom. The home was hit multiple times because it stood between two rival gangs ducking for cover while trying to kill one another. The gangs didn't care or consider the many innocent children playing in the courtyard or families living within the townhomes they used for cover. When the dust settled, Martavion's sister watched her younger autistic brother fall to the floor, bleeding and holding his head. One of the bullets that ripped through their home had hit Martavion in the back of his head, leaving him in shock, laying on the floor. Thanks to his sister's quick thinking, she knew to apply pressure to the wound and call for help. By the grace of God, Martavion survived but had to spend the rest of the week in the hospital with bullet fragments that are still currently lodged in his head right to this day.

This GoFund Me is being set up to help Martavion's mother offset the financial burden of finding new housing, moving expenses, paying medical bills, therapy for the children, and household items. Martavion's mother is a hard-working woman who would give anyone the shirt off her back. Even though she is the one who usually takes care of others, this would be a wonderful way for everyone to help her and her children get to safety and get much-needed help.
