Martha's Vineyard Creative Writing Institute
Donation protected
Greetings Friends,
I am writing to share wonderful news!! I was offered a fellowship to Martha's Vineyard Institute of Creative Writing, June 16th - 22nd, 2019. As many of you know, I started writing poetry at a very young age. Creative writing continues to be one of my passions. I am humbled by the many recognitions I've received throughout the years.
The piece I submitted, 'Linger' was written for Black History Month and is a remembrance of lynchings and the ways metaphorically Black people are still being lynched. It is one of my favorite pieces to date. You can read it here: file:///C:/Users/hcherry/Downloads/Hazel/My%20Musings/Linger.pdf
It is an honor to have my work recognized and affirmed. I am thrilled about the opportunity to engage with writers from across the country. The fellowship is filled with workshops and grants me access to have my work critiqued by experts in the field. The fellowship comes with a scholarship that covers 35% of my tuition for the week. This brings my remaining balance for tuition to $700. This balance is due by March 25th, 2019. I am thrilled about the opportunity to be part of this experience. I'm asking that you help me get there by making a donation. If you are unable to give but know someone who can, please feel free to forward this email. Every contribution will make a difference.
Note* I am keeping the gofundme open through Friday, March 22nd. Extra funds raised will go towards my housing costs which is an additional $650.
In gratitude,
Hazel Cherry
