Martin Gibek's road to recovery

On Friday June 10, 2022, we received news that changed everything.
We planned to attend our friend’s eldest daughter’s sweet sixteen birthday. The morning before the party, we received news that her father, Martin Gibek, was involved in a horrific accident in front of his home.
Martin, a hardworking Polish father of two, had been injured due to a mishap with an excavator that had ran over his body, crushing him and severely fracturing his pelvis. He was rushed to the ER, had two surgeries to his pelvis within twenty-four hours, and was kept in the ICU for days. He was later transferred to a rehabilitation center where he will stay for weeks to come.
Martin had always been an outgoing and spontaneous person. Always in motion, always busy working, but never failing to find the time to help others, in the form of advice or a joke that would have an entire room of people laughing. Just a sight of his infectious smile could brighten anyone's day. Most importantly, he is extremely caring and values his family above everything.
Martin had taken the responsibility of making his daughter's birthday the best day ever, putting together the finishing touches of the yard he's been working on. However, the celebration was not to be, halted when his accident turned his family and friend's world around. Everyone was relieved to hear Martin was still alive. However, his injuries have caused him to deal with unimaginable pain and to be bedbound for a long time.
Martin’s wife and children are completely devastated and overwhelmed by this tragedy. As family and friends continue to help motivate Martin on his road to recovery, we ask others to keep him and his family in their prayers. We are starting a GoFundMe in hopes that it will help ease the financial burden that will be placed on Martin and his family with all the medical bills. We hope to have positive updates as time goes by and appreciate all your support.
