In Loving Memory of Martin Hernandez

Dear friends and family, my name is Anabelle Hernandez and it is with an extremely heavy heart that I’m writing this in memory of my dad, Martin Hernandez. Papa, who was filled with so much love in his heart, unexpectedly passed away earlier this week, leaving behind a beautiful wife, and 3 daughters including myself, Paige, and Daphnie. Our entire family is devastated by this tragic event because Papa was truly an extraordinary man who was filled with so much kindness, love, comfort, and joy.

My dad has been with my mom, Chee Salina Lieu, since they were both kids. They were high school sweethearts. And though a lot of couples’ love tends to wither away the longer they’ve been together, I saw the opposite between my mom and dad. As the years go by, their love continued to grow stronger. They truly were each other’s best friend. There was never a moment where I’ve witnessed anything other than happiness between them, setting a high standard of love for my sisters and I.

Papa was an exceptionally great dad since day one. He always put our feelings and wants before his own and worked so hard to support us all throughout our lives. He always loved spending time with us whenever he was at home. Papa would find new movies for us to watch during our weekly family movie nights and every single evening we would have dinner together as a family. I would trade anything in the world to have another moment with him, to hug him and kiss his cheek one last time, to hear him explain what certain tools are used for, to watch him perform an oil change on my car, or just to say goodbye for the last time. And I know for a fact that my mom and sisters feel the same. Papa was not only a kind and patient soul, but was the epitome of love and wholesomeness. His devotion to family was unmatched, and his memory will forever be in our hearts.
