Marv Ellis Memorial Table at Caldwell Park
Donation protected
It is hard to believe that my brother, our beloved Marv Ellis, has been gone for six months. I know I think of him nearly every day and I’m sure many of you do too.
Marv Ellis was a man who worked selflessly to serve others in his community. He welcomed all and shared what little he had with anyone he crossed paths with, regardless of their race, age, religion, or beliefs. He organized his own non profit, helped the less fortunate, and stood up tirelessly for what he believed in. He deserved so much more in this world.
As promised, we will be purchasing a memorial bench or table for Marv to live permanently in Caldwell Park. It will allow us to visit there and think of him and to honor his memory and also continue his work of service to others.
Nearly $300 was raised at Marv’s memorial with some small PayPal donations after the fact as well. The memorial benches start at $2000, although a lovely picnic table under his gazebo at Marvwell is our goal and will likely cost significantly more. The bench or table will take 18 weeks to create, and we hope to put the order in by the end of April so we can gather at the new monument on Marv’s birthday, October 5th.
Our family will ensure that a memorial is created, regardless of the funds raised here, but in the end, Marv Ellis deserves more than a simple plaque on a fence. Your shares and donations will help ensure we are able to get the best memorial possible.
We will post updates regularly. I will also post pictures of our intended memorial table as soon as the city provides those for us. Meanwhile, we are open to suggestions as to what Marv’s closest friends would like the memorial to say.
Thank you all for everything. For donating and sharing the fundraiser, but also just for being Marv’s friends and community.
Update: Thank you all so much for the fundraising efforts! We have raised nearly $800 toward the memorial bench.
