Marvin’s Story
I never thought I’d have to do this, but hear we are......My name is Danielle, My Dad Marvin was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer in 2018, Where he undergone surgery to remove his prostate & Lymph nodes.
He remained healthy, went back to work and showed no signs of future challenges he would be faced with, over the winter he was due for a bone scan, but because of the winter weather & having to travel hours away. He post-poned the scan.
When he finally was able to get his bone scan done they found a tumor on his bladder April 28th 2019.
This last month and a half has been a roller coaster, with multiple trips to Minneapolis & St. Cloud’s Veterans Hospitals. Among the ER visits, & hospital stays.
On this last trip to the emergency room his hemoglobin dropped to 5.1 which resulted in multiple blood transfusions, He ended up getting a nephrostomy. During his procedure they also went in and repaired the lesions from the tumor on his bladder, a found a clot the size of a coffee cup.
Two weeks ago we received the news of his bone scan, they told us that his cancer is Metastasis Stage 4 Small Cell Carcinoma of the prostate. It’s spread to his ribs, spine, left arm & left hip. Small Cell carcinoma of the prostate is VERY RARE and aggressive type of prostatic cancer, accounting for less than 1% of all prostate cancers. Marvin is in the advanced stages.
A week ago we sat down with the urologist and she scheduled PET, CT & MRI scans immediately, which results showed his liver & lungs showed spots also. His blood tests also showed he’s Anemic.
The Plan
He has begun chemotherapy and started his first round on Wednesday March 27th.
Doing 3 days in a row, his next round is June 19th. The goal is “TIME” so with chemo we’re hoping to get just that. And take each day a day at a time, cherishing each moment we have left with him.

The Costs
Marvin works as a DNR Park Ranger, and has continued to keep working, but as his health has declined his Dr. has advised him not to, but Marvin has continued to persevere and work anyway due to his financial obligations.
He hasn’t asked for help, but due to changing circumstances I feel now is the time to step in and assist him in any way we can.
I’m creating a Go Fund Me, to help with traveling costs to and from St. Cloud & Minneapolis, household bills, medical copays, Gas for trips to and from chemotherapy treatment, and whatever else bills he acquires.
This is a extremely devastating time for our family, By raising funds for Marvin we hope to ease some of the stress and financial pressure he will face with this new challenge.
Thank you for taking the time to read Marvin’s story.
