Marvin's flute

I am a 68 year old African American flutist. I was gifted my first flute when I was 19 and playing it transformed my life. I decided to dedicate my life to playing classical flute.
I was born in Alabama and lived there until the age of 12, when my family moved to Ohio. At 17 I joined the Navy during the Viet Nam war and served as a corpsman. After discharge from the Navy, I entered Ohio State University as a music major and studied with Randall Hester, of the Columbus Symphony Orchestra. I completed the degree in music at the University of California, Berkeley.
Since 1982, Berkeley has been my home. During that time I have performed on the streets, in restaurants, churches, concert halls and other venues. For eleven years I produced a series of classical music concerts at the Berkeley Art Center where I met and performed with some of the finest musicians in the Bay Area and beyond. It was a popular series, averaging thirty - forty concerts per year.
The funds I am seeking would enable me to purchase a Powell flute. I believe obtaining this professional-grade flute would elevate my playing such that I can forget about the instrument and focus purely on the music. This flute will bring a quality to the music I have not been able to readily achieve with my current instrument and above all share the music with others.
