Mary & Eric Krause

I met Mary and Eric just a few months ago, but it doesn't take long to love these two. Just thinking of Mary makes me smile. She's strong, courageous, tender-hearted, fierce, and generous beyond measure. And, there is NO doubt that these two love each other tremendously.
On Monday, May 13, Mary went to urgent care with what she thought was a really bad case of bronchitis and was diagnosed with a sinus infection and pneumonia. The following day, she went to the ER and was admitted immediately. I spoke with her on Wednesday and she thought she'd be in the hospital for another night at least. On Thursday, Eric texted to let us know that she couldn't breathe on her own, was on 100% oxygen, and heavily sedated. Things have just gotten progressively worse from there. The doctor's discovered infection in her heart and lungs. After more than a week in the hospital in South Bend, almost totally dependent on oxygen, the decision was made to air-lift her to Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
Her body is overwhelmed with infection and her immune system isn't strong enough to fight it. She was diagnosed with Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARSD), a rapidly progressive disease occurring in critically ill patients. It's main complication is that fluid leaks into the lungs making breathing difficult to impossible. Today, we learned that she also has a coronavirus in her lungs. The doctors are running multiple tests and have told Eric that this is going to be a long process but she is in good hands.
Mary and Eric own their own businesses. And, while they do have some healthcare coverage, Mary is not able to work and Eric is spending every possible moment he can with her. He's holding up well considering everything. But he and their daughter, Nicole, are hurting so much. All they want is Mary back home safe and well.
I know a lot of us are praying like crazy for them. But even with that its easy to feel so helpless. So, I decided to start this GoFundMe to help alleviate some of their financial concerns. Please consider donating to help Mary, Eric and Nicole get through this unexpected tragedy in their lives. Thank you for your love and generosity for our Mary and Eric. They are blessed to have SO many friends and family who love and support them. God Bless!!!
