Mary Beth @ Vanderbilt for a cure

As humbling as it is, most of you know that I was recently diagnosed with an oral cancer tumor a couple of months ago, and it was due to my own perseverance by going out of town to Vanderbilt, and allowing a top notch oral surgeon to repeat tests i had already had here at home,  except their pathology department found different results which resulted in him ,  Dr.  Samuel Mckenna, oral surgery DDS at Vanderbilt University.  He promptly referred me to the head and neck cancer center, and Dr. Kyle Mannion.  After seeing Dr. Mannion, he promptly scheduled surgery to remove the tumor from the floor of my tongue and the lymph nodes on the right side of my neck.  The surgery was brutal, I am glad theu didn' t warn m . Then the pathology returned.  Even though he had already removed the lymph nodes,  the cancer had invaded 2 of them.  I also have another place on the left floor of my tongue that will have to be treated.  I will find out exactly what treatment lies ahead of me on the 10th of March, but even before the surgery Dr. Mannion told me he would need to see me every  8 weeks indefinitely.  Thank you for caring enough to read my story.  As you can imagine , even though we can stay local most of the time with my son in Greenbrier Tennessee,  it still costs money to rent automobiles and for food and medicine and even much needed plane tickets.   So like I said at the beginning, this is a very humbling thing to put ones self out there, but those of you that know us will understand.
