September is Peritoneal Cancer awareness month. We here at Merry Maids are painfully aware of this!
Our wonderful manager Mary Ellen who has been with us 18 years has been diagnosed with this awful cancer and is in the fight of her life!
Mary Ellen is a mother, grandmother, a daughter, a sister and a friend to all. She has worked all of her adult life to care for her 5 children, sometimes working 3 jobs at a time as a single mom. She found in Merry Maids a career that worked for her life and allowed to her to work only 1 job. She went from being a team member to a trainer and has been our manager for the last 6 years. Not only is she an amazing manager working with us all day, she then goes home to be the primary caregiver for her elderly mom.
Speaking of "MOM" this is who Mary Ellen is to our team members. They all think of and describe Mary Ellen as their extra mom. She frequently picks up and drops off team members at home when they need a ride, never lets them leave the office without making sure they have bottles of water and snacks. Above all of that she is our own personal weather informant letting us all know when there is a Tropical Storm or Hurricane on the horizon. Oh and she sprays a mean can of disinfectant if anyone should sneeze and we love her for it!
Prior to getting sick Mary Ellen's absences from work could be counted on one hand. She has been loyal, honest and hard working since day one. In this everchanging world where employers are searching for someone with these qualities we have been blessed to have had it all along. Even though she is very sick she wants to put up a fight and her fight is our fight!
Mary Ellen is not one to ask for anything from anyone as she is very independent, extremely proud and such a giver to others. While we respect all these things about her, the truth is she needs our help now and we want to ask you for your support for her. If you would like to join in THIS FIGHT for Mary Ellen! We are asking for a little but we all know cancer costs a lot. These funds will help with her expenses please donate what you are moved to... no matter how big or small.
