Mary Houston's Funeral

Donation protected

To everyone who may not yet have heard the news, our dear grandmother and friend Mary Houston passed away Friday December 28th.

Mary was not only a grandmother, she was also a sister, a daughter, a friend, but was a mom to most. She wanted to be buried in Queens, the city she loved, raised her kids in, became a mother figure to her grandsons in, and no matter how hard the struggle, she would never leave. The family is in need of others to assist in any way, so we can send Mary off with the memorial service she deserves. Funeral plans are still being arranged, and any updates regarding locations and times will be posted here.

If you would like to donate, just click on the donate button and donate whatever you can. If you are not able to donate don’t forget you can still leave messages and comments for the family.

Make sure you follow this page so that you receive any updates regarding the funeral.

With gratitude,

-below are messages to every from Mary's son Stan and grandson Paul.

Today a woman passed on, a special woman. If you knew her you will know it's true. A woman who lived a life of struggle, pain, and heartache. A woman who found joy in simple things, like a song, a dance, a smile. A woman who found meaning in life by doing the on thing she knew to do best. A woman who raised her children and then her children's children. And even their friends. A woman who most called MOM. And if you knew her, you would have probably called her that too. I pray that the Father gave her to the Son. We love you and we will miss you Mary (Mom) Houston. August 20, 1939.

Mary Houston wasn't just my grandmother, she was my momma.  She raised my brother and I, and she always took care of the family before herself. She brought joy to the people around her. Many of my friends knew her and how she was strong-willed , and always with a joke. If you spent any time in the apartment the last decade you know what I am talking about. Always coming in the room to make sure everyone was alright and smiling. Always showing off her bicep saying how she was old but still had the strength of any one of us. She meant so much to so many people and my heart is absolutely broken now she is gone. She came from poverty, and even managed to make a little home and family of her own. Nothing in the world meant more to me than her.  When things were tough she always made sure we were safe, healthy, happy and made sure we never went without. If she has affected you in anyway or helped you to feel better at some time of your life, we are asking for help. We want to giver her the funeral she deserves, but funerals are expensive and anything given will help so much. She loved everyone so much.  Thank You.
