UPDATE: It is with GREAT SADNESS that I make this update:
Lenape Family,
The Lenape Family suffered a profound loss today with the death of Lenape secretary Mary Jane Mullen. Her passing is felt deeply by the many members of the Lenape Family with whom she worked. Mary Jane was the embodiment of all that is good in our world. She felt a genuine love for all things Lenape, including students, staff, and alumni. She was always ready with a hug, a kiss, and some candy for anyone who needed it. For more than six decades, Mary Jane’s impact on our school and everyone in it has been immeasurable, and we join in mourning with untold numbers of those who are devastated by this loss.
Working through grief is always difficult and unique to each individual. Burlington County School Crisis Response Team members and other school counselors will be available on Monday, May 15 beginning at 7:30 am in the Lenape Media Center to assist students and staff who are having a difficult time processing this profound loss. No appointment is necessary.
I invite parents/guardians to contact Mr. Castor, Lenape Supervisor of Counseling, at [phone redacted], ext. 338300 or your child’s counselor with any questions or concerns you may have in your discussions of this loss at home. We know that students will react differently to sad news. For that reason, we have posted resources on our website that you may find helpful in gauging your child's response in the coming days.
On your behalf, we extend our deep sympathy and concern to Mary Jane’s entire family at this time.
Once information is available about the services for Mary Jane Mullen, we will share the details with the Lenape Family.
I ask all of our members of the Lenape Family to look after one another as we deal with the loss of our friend and someone who truly exemplified Lenape High School.
With sadness,
Tony Cattani
Principal, Lenape High School
As many of you know, our beloved Mary Jane was in an automobile accident this morning while traveling on her way to work. Most people work 35 years, retire, and go on to enjoy their retirement. Then there are those people who love their jobs soooooooooo much, that they decide that even 63 years of dedication is not enough. SIXTY THREE YEARS. Mary Jane has been spreading LOVE throughout the hallways of Lenape Regional High School for GENERATIONS. She has SELFLESSLY given for 63 years, and now it's our time to show her, HOW MUCH she means to us all. I created this GoFundMe in hopes that it will help her defray medical costs, but anticipate that we can raise enough that a Scholarship Fund can be established in her name.
UPDATE***
Mary Jane would love to THANK ALL OF YOU for your LOVE AND SUPPORT. She is in VERY GOOD SPIRITS, but she still has a long road ahead (several more surgeries, then rehab). If you go to see her, she will be upset because her hair is not done, but she will get over it as she needs our love.
For those of you inquiring about the legitimacy of this fund (which unfortunately is normal), my name is Steven Nichols (Lenape Class of 87) and I spoke with both Mark and Renee to get their approval to create this account for MEDICAL and SCHOLARSHIP purposes for Mary Jane. I have an attorney who is walking me through the steps to ensure a Trust Fund is established in her name so that all funds will be appropriated as they were intended.
FYI, Nicole Beaudoin is my niece. She and I created this account for my Father In Law several years back and although the account is mapped to my email address, her name is the one that appears and unfortunately, there is no way to change that. I sincerely apologize for any confusion that this may have caused.
If you should have any questions or concerns, it isn't difficult to reach out to me. I can easily be contacted, as I am the admin of Mary Jane's FB page.
