In remembrance of Mary Jean Coffman

Donation protected
Hi there. Let me begin this by saying, I see GoFundMe links all the time, and I never thought to myself that I'd be doing one so soon myself.

My name is Michael Marksbury. I am Mary's oldest son out of the 2 she had. I have a younger brother named Luke Coffman which I'm sure you have seen all over her Facebook. On January 23rd, 2024, at the young age of 47 years old, my mother was found in her apartment after no contact had been received from her for 24 hours. I called the police for a welfare check and upon entering her home, they had discovered that she had passed away from what looks like natural causes.

My Mother was an absolutely amazing person. She had so much love for everyone who was around her and absolutely showered my brother and I with unconditional love and affection. I was lucky enough to have 2 children who I watched her fall in love with, and being a parent myself, being able to see her grow not only as a mother, but as a grandmother more importantly, holds a deep and special place in my heart that i just won't ever forget. From the day Malcolm "my son" was born, she made sure every single day that he was doing okay and if we ever needed anything from her. She knew we struggled financially, but she did too, but she would constantly put my family first before herself. It is something I can't thank her enough for. She used to text me on the weekends about a feast she would be making and expect us to come over with empty bellies so she could fill us up to the point of being sick.

My Mother made friends everywhere she went. I've discovered this from the countless messages I've seen offering condolences and support. Many of the places I've contacted on for her on the behalf of passing away, are completely shocked and saddened from the news, that someone who was so sweet and caring, could be taken away at such a young age. Throughout the last couple of years. My mom has faced numerous medical issues that deteriorated her quality of life, but through those struggles, she kept my brother happy, took care of me and my own little family, but in the mix of that she forgot to take care of herself. She had no issue with putting her family first before herself, which I witnessed myself many times. I wish I could thank her a million times over for all the good she provided me in life.

The reason I am asking for support is because I want to provide my mother with the goodbye she deserves. I would also like to be able to provide our family we share to get together on her behalf and celebrate the life she had that tragically ended. Considering this happened so unexpectedly, I don't have a date or a place yet, but I know she has a bunch of family outside of California and id like everyone to get a chance to get together and celebrate her life. I am planning for 2 months out to have services done and whenever plans are ready, I will post them here for you guys to view as well as on her and my own Facebook page.
