Mary O’ Brien on life saving treatment in Germany

recent update: hi everyone we’ve just received news we had to change out go fund me amount with a further 6000 on top of the original, the hospital in Germany have been in touch, so along with the original price I’ve just been told I will have to return for a second visit 4 months after as the treatment is done in two parts so they only gave me the price now for the second part of the treatment as I didn’t realise I would have to return but I’ve now been told it’s only 2 visits I won’t have to return afterwards so hopefully thanks to everyone’s help so far I might make it their and I can’t thank everyone enough for their help and their donations so far I never thought it would be even possible but everyone’s generosity is just amazing and I can’t thank everyone enough,..

Hi my name is Caroline Gallagher I’m sharing this story on behalf of my really good friend Mary O’ Brien on hopes that anyone out their reading this might just take the time to read Mary’s story on her ongoing battle with cancer and hopes of getting her out to Germany for life saving treatment

my name is Mary O Brien, I’m 46 years old I’m living in a small town in Castlepollard in Westmeath with my partner Shane greville and my 6 children Olivia 26, Dermot 24, Kira 16, ruby 13, Lucy mai 9, and little jack 4, and also a grandmother to a beautiful little boy Ronnie ages 3.

i was first diagnosed with bowel cancer in 2022 and since then have undergone multiple surgeries and chemotherapy and radiation, Everytime I fell like I’m recovering and everything is looking good another scan will show another tumor resulting in another surgery and chemotherapy with radiation, it is a constant battle and I know I have fight left but the latest p.e.t scan and mri have confirmed that I’ve now been diagnosed with a rare form of cancer called gastro intestinal stromal tumors which are small tumors all along the lining of my stomach, the doctor has confirmed it is too many to count and to many for them to remove.

but their is still hope in Germany they can remove my stomach complety and replace it altogether called gasterectomy surgery which would mean for me no more cancer in my stomach and no worrying about it ever returning their, but also dentritic cell therapy which is a very specific vaccine that will be made from my blood that can target the cancer cells in my bodY.

I will have to travel to Frankfurt in Germany to have the stomach removal surgery followed my the cell targeted treatment but the total cost is €25,000, so far I’ve been paying for all my surgeries and scans and everything needed but this time I don’t think I’m able to do it on my own which is why I’m asking if anyone has taken the time to read my whole story I know everyone has hard times and which is why I’m grateful if people might be able to help even in the smallest way to help get me to Germany and thanks so much for reading my story.
