Hello everyone! Giving this a shot...
In August of 2020, Mary was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer. A large tumor was found in her right breast and was determined to be a cancerous sarcoma which required immediate attention.
This diagnosis took many doctor visits, tests, and biopsies which were sent to Mayo Clinic. Various appointments with a team of oncologists were needed to even address the course of action.
Since October, she has had three surgeries. Mary has undergone a bilateral mastectomy in hopes the tumor will not return. The surgery went well, but she experienced an infection, that required another two rounds of surgery to remediate. She has spent days in the hospital, going to doctor's visits, and she has undergone all of this through this pandemic. Most of the time she has been unable to have visitors, as she is also at high risk for Covid-19.
This November, she found out that her journey is far from over as she will also need to undergo radiation for a minimum of six weeks, five days a week.
Mary is an amazing mother and grandmother. She is inclusive, supportive, and she truly has such a huge heart. She is super-human strong, and she is determined to make it through this.
This pandemic has been an incredibly stressful time for everyone. It is hard being unable to see our family and friends. It is difficult to be unable to do the things we used to normally do. It is a challenge having to stay home in order to keep others safe and healthy. We personally want to thank you for continuing this trend, because it does have an impact, and does not go unnoticed.
When times get tough, people really show up, and that has been very apparent these last few months. This whole experience has been very emotionally moving and unifying. We are so very thankful for everyone who has reached out to her during this challenging time. It has truly meant so much to her.
We are setting up this GoFundMe to try and offset some of the costs associated with these numerous expenses. She already has had different offices calling to collect payments and we want to relieve her of this stress, so she can try to focus on healing
Anything helps, and please keep her in your thoughts and prayers. <3
Thank you!
