Hi everyone,

First of all thank you so much for all the kind wishes while my mother went through chemo and radiation after her cancer diagnosis at the beginning of September. She was so touched that so many people cared so much about her and wanted her to get better/handle treatment as easily as she could.

On September 29th, Momma started her first round of chemo to treat her Stage Four Small Cell Carcinoma which was extremely rough for her and so were the next few treatments. While we knew it was going to be rough, neither of us were prepared for this. She took it all in stride and did great through her three treatments that week. Afterwards, things got a little be worse as she was in so much pain after the medicine given to her to raise her white blood cell counts. Even though all this was happening she was so strong and told me that she was going to fight through this and we would be fine.

At her lab work appointment on October 6th, we were shocked to see she gained 10 pounds, all of her blood work came back great, and her pain had subsided. When I left to go back to Nashville on Wednesday, Momma told me how much she was going to fight this and things were going to be okay and how strong she was. I think me being here with her made her want to fight and hold on as long as she could or she just didn't want me to worry about how she was doing.

Momma passed away on October 10th after her very short and very hard battle with cancer. Knowing that she is at peace and no longer in pain has been the only thing getting me through this. She's with my dad and I know they are watching over me right now.

We decided to set up this fundraiser to help cover the costs for her cremation, the costs of any outstanding medical bills, and to help her boyfriend cover expenses while he is out of work. Anything left over will be going to a trip I am planning to spread her ashes in some of her favorite places: Laurel Falls here in GSMNP; Montana; Barbados; Allentown, PA. Based on the timing of her death and waiting for the funeral home, we cannot start her cremation until we have paid the costs in full for the service. We are hoping to have at least 75% of the costs by October 16th in order to get her remains back as soon as we can.

Any amount will do and nothing is too small. Even if you cannot make a monetary donation just sharing any good memories you have of my mom bring me so much joy. There's so much I didn't know and didn't learn from her, so being able to hear from anyone would be greatly appreciated.

This Christmas I plan on making her famous plethora of cookies, her spaghetti sauce, and watching her favorite holiday movie: Christmas Vacation. I know it would be what she would want the most. Again, thank you all so much for all the kind words during this time. It's been very much needed especially since we cannot get together to celebrate my mom and how important she was to us all.
