Mary Woodman

This GoFundMe page is in memory of my mum, Mary Wright. Or as she was known as to many, Mary Woodman; Owner of the Woodman School of Dancing. I am raising money to try and get her a plaque at the Marlowe Theatre in Canterbury.

The Woodman School of Dancing was a beloved Dance School that ran from 1953 to 2006. Started by my grandfather Sydney Woodman, Mary took over the Dance School and ran it until her retirement. It was a beloved Dance School that is still talked about today, with many of it's pupils going on to do great things and even run their own Dance school or having successful careers in Dancing. One of the highlights was the yearly Woodman School of Dancing Pantomime that was done at the old Marlowe every year.

Sadly, in May 5th 2024, my mum passed away. She was a wonderful woman that had such a positive impact on so many lives - my family included. We want to honour her name as best we can, and I can think of nothing better than to have a plaque at the Marlowe Theatre, a place that was her second home.

I am raising money for this so that we can forever commemorate my amazing mum and let her legacy carry on. Please donate where you can so we can raise money for this.
