Maryellen's Cancer Battle

These past few months have been an absolute devastation to our family. My mom, Maryellen, has been in and out of the hospital and has received multiple surgeries to remove blood clots. One month ago- just as we thought things were getting better- my mom had a stroke. This stroke left her unable to talk properly and unable to move her right arm and leg. She didn't give up. She spent the past few weeks in the hospital doing occupational therapy to ensure that she would walk and talk again. During her stay in rehabilitation, the doctors noticed some complications with her lungs as they were filling up with fluid. This led to the heart-breaking diagnosis, stage 4 lung cancer.

Doctors have decided it is best for her to stop occupational therapy and she is now back at home with my aunt- her loving sister, Fran and her two daughters, Natalie and I, where she will be starting chemotherapy very soon. 

These overwhelming circumstances have left us struggling to pay for medical expenses and supplies necessary to keep her safe and comfortable. This has also caused us to fall behind on bills, our mortgage, and the cost of college for my sister and I.

I know this year has been challenging for everyone, but any donation would greatly benefit our family and help my mom down the long road to recovery. We are a strong family of women who will do whatever it takes to care for one another.
