Marymount N.S. Charity Bike-a-thon

The 6th class of Marymount N.S. The Rower, (Charity Registered No: 20205242) assisted by the Student Council, are holding a charity

Bike-A-Thon on Tuesday 15th February 2022 as a fundraiser in aid of refugees and for a 3D printer for our school. The children are going to cycle the distance from The Rower to Syria which is 5,118km approx.

The idea came from a novel titled ‘The Boy at the Back of the Class’ which they read in the first term of school. It’s about a boy called Ahmet who arrives in the UK after fleeing the refugee crisis in Syria. He faces many difficulties and challenges such as not knowing English, missing his friends, losing his family, and being separated from his remaining family on the long journey.

 

We hope we can help to make a difference to some children like Ahmet who may have faced the same experience of being a refugee with this fundraising project.

 

Our slogan is - 'Get a Bike or Take a Hike'
