Mary's Emergency Open Heart Surgery Fund

Donation protected
We decided to set up this account on behalf of Mary Miller to essentially help pay not only her daily bills but the unthinkable medical bills that will eventually pile up.

Sunday, July 2nd my mother, Mary, drove herself to the Emergency Room with unbearable chest pains that she's had all day. After a few hours of tests, she was told she was being transferred to Baylor, Scott & White - Heart Hospital for Emergency Open Heart Surgery.

This was the last thing she or anyone else expected.

If she never made that decision and decided to stay at work that night, this past week could have been a completely different story.

This past week has been incredibly hard physically and emotionally for her, and all by her side, as she still comes to terms with what has just happened. In a matter of a few hours, she went from about to start the week working her 2 jobs – to being unable to walk 5 feet without assistance or the use of an Oxygen tank by her side. We were told recovery at the hospital could go from 7-10 days; she is currently on day 8. She is still struggling to breathe on her own and the pain of it all is exhausting for her. She will be going to a rehabilitation center following her discharge to help get her strength back to eventually get back to her “new normal”.

It took me a long time to respect my mother, and I still try to today, but I do know she has worked HARD to get by for as long as she’s had me and my little sister. She’s been a single mother our whole lives, working overnight shifts to be home during the day with us to working two jobs and we barely saw her. Even then, we knew it was still not enough and she had to have help just to put food on the table, but she kept going. She kept trying. Because she knew she had to take care of us somehow. Now, here I am, without hesitation doing whatever I can to help my mother!

I watched my mom cry today in the hospital, hooked up to machines, an oxygen tube still attached to assist with breathing, and a walker nearby, and she was already becoming worried about bills that are due and it devasted me that THIS is what she is worried about!

Honestly, we aren’t expecting much at all but to even get a little bit would be so incredibly amazing and the help would probably bring some happy tears to my mother for once!
