Hello! My name is Diana Gigerich I am doing this for my sister Mary Simpson. This is a desperate cry for help.
One year ago this month my sister was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer with metastasis to the bone. Needless to say this was a devastating blow to the family. She has an 8 yr old girl and 2 grown college age children. Her eldest son, Grahm was attending NAU, in Arizona in his 3rd yr and left school to come home and help his family. After a whole year on chemotherapy our insurance with Mercy care was cancelled. Mary was no longer covered. We had no warning .We went to the emergency room because Mary was in soo much pain and it was at that time that we were told
Her husband is working full time and is going to put Mary on his insurance, this premium will be 560.00 per month and they will not be able to afford daily living expenses ie. Deductibles, mortgage, food, gas etc. We have been residents of New River, Arizona for 19 years, our friends and neighbors have been very supportive. However, the stress of financial problems, on a daily basis have been taking its toll on my sister. Yesterday I went to DES office and literally begged for help and was turned down, I filed an appeal and was again turned down. A PET scan was scheduled for tomorrow, May 29th to check the status of the tumors and the next course of treatment but that was cancelled due to no insurance. Mary, my sister, cries daily not only facing the pain, nausea and limited mobility but the stress of just buying groceries, needed home repairs and paying for treatment. I implore anyone who can help us please keep us in your prayers and assist us in any way you can. I have never begged for anything before yesterday at the DES office but I am begging now.
