Mascot Towers Emergency Fund
Donation protected
The residents of Mascot Towers where forcibly evacuated from their apartment late in the evening on the 14th June 2019 because their building suddenly started developing alarming cracking to its structure. To many residents this came as a massive shock, especially those who came home after the building was sealed and had no access to possessions or even their pets.
The residents of 132 units have fallen victim to the massive failings of the government when it comes to protecting the rights of strata lot owners. And because of that many residents now face an uncertain future, without a home and with escalating costs to repair the building.
The owners are now forced to find large sums of money to repair the building because the government has left owners with no legal protection, and no way to recover money from the developers or builders. The residents are faced with a $1 Million cost just to get back home, this has to be paid by 1st August 2019. That gives owners only a few weeks to find the money, with most banks refusing to provide personal loans because of the current state of the building.
This is only the start for us, we face massive repair costs that could reach $6+ Million, with no support from our government.
About Me: I am a resident of Mascot Towers, and I am part of the close community with other residents at Mascot towers. We plan to use the kind donations to help everyone in the building start the work on stabilizing the structural defects as well as investigate what went wrong. Until this has been paid we will not be able to move forwards and re-occupy the building. All funds will be transferred to our Strata Scheme directly for the benefit of everyone.
