Mascotas en Venezuela: ayudemos a perros y gatos

Venezuela está pasando por su peor momento en la historia, es imposible escapar de las noticias al respecto pues es la crisis más grave del mundo occidental actualmente. Niños y adultos muriendo de hambre , enfermedades que se encontraban erradicadas han vuelto a aparecer como es el caso de la difteria. No existe quien pueda escapar de la crisis, eso incluye a las mascotas.
El salario mínimo mensual en Venezuela es de 18000 bolívares, eso equivale a €4,26 (para la fecha 26 de febrero de 2019), esta hiperinflación ha llevado a que los alimentos y otros productos sean vendidos en dólares con precios absurdos. Por ejemplo, el kilo de alimento seco para perros/gatos cuesta 20 euros, precio de hace 3 semanas, cada día va en aumento, y en muchas ocasiones lo venden sin etiqueta así que no se sabe exactamente qué se está comprando.

Como informan por euronews:  Según la asociación dedicada al rescate de animales, Voluntarios Proteccionistas, más de 3 millones de perros se encuentran en las calles. "La crisis ha obligado a las personas a dejar el país y abandonar a sus mascotas, otros simplemente los abandonan porque ya no los pueden mantener, explica Alicia Velasco Viso a Euronews, presidenta de la asociación, y agrega, la ayuda humanitaria es necesaria para ellos también".

A pesar de la adversidad y la lucha que viven los venezolanos, existen muchas personas que se niegan a abandonar a sus mascotas, que gracias a ayuda de familiares en el extranjero o compartiendo lo poco que tienen logran seguir alimentando poco a poco a sus mascotas.

¿Por qué decidí iniciar este Gofundme?
En Caracas he dejado atrás no sólo a mi madre, sino a mis 6 gatos y 5 perros, pero gracias a mi trabajo en España puedo ayudar a comprar comida y enviar vitaminas/medicamentos para mis mascotas, sin embargo el costo de la comida para mascotas en Venezuela se está volviendo irreal. Enviar 100 euros y que sólo alcance para comprar 5 kg de comida es absurdo, así que he decidido comprar comida y enviarla por vía marítima. Esto lo he podido hacer por mis mascotas y me gustaría hacerlo por muchos más animalitos que día a día luchan por sobrevivir.


¿Cuál es el plan?
Recolectar dinero para costear alimento para perros y gatos aquí en España, y poder enviarla a través de vía marítima. Además de alimento me gustaría agregar pulgicidas y collares antipulgas.

¿A quién donaré los alimentos?
He decidido no trabajar con protectoras u otras organizaciones en Venezuela. Sé que hay muchas y sé que hacen una gran labor, pero mi idea es ayudar al "ciudadano de a pie", a esa persona que lucha cada día para sobrevivir y aún así comparte lo que tiene con sus mascotas y animales de la calle.

Proteccionista independiente, actualmente tiene dos perros y un gato en su casa, todos rescatados. Aparte alimenta a dos perritas de su calle y dos perros más resguardados de la zona.

Esther comenzó alimentando a un par de gatos y terminó con más de 10 gatos en su casa, 3 perros y además se encarga de alimentar a perros y gatos callejeros del antiguo country club de Maracay


Venuska Canino (@Ralkm )
En su casa tiene 15 perros y 9 gatos. Además alimenta a los animales callejeros cerca de su hogar, los cuales son un poco más difíciles de llevar control porque ellos aparecen y desaparecen cuando quieren, pero son al menos 4 perros más y unos 10 gatos, aproximadamente. Proteccionista independiente de Pto. Fijo, alimenta a los perros de su zona, y rescata perros en mal estado, uno de sus últimos rescatados Ponso es un perro que se encontraba en los huesos y lleno de sarna, bajo su cuidado ha mejorado increíblemente.

Nieves Peña (@miprimerrescate )
Una pequeña pequeña fundación dirigida por Nieves se encarga de rescatar, curar a cientos de perros callejeros, la mayoría abandonados en pésimas condiciones. 

¿La meta?
Ayudar a todos los animales posibles, en principio la ayuda será enviando lo que las proteccionistas necesiten, sea comida, medicinas u otras cosas.

¿Qué recibes a cambio?
Además de la satisfacción de saber que algún perrito estará moviendo la cola gracias a ti, o un gato ronroneará a tu nombre, he pensado que por cada donación mayor de 10 euros el donante recibirá una fotogato de agradecimiento <3

Otras formas de ayudar:
Entiendo que no todos cuentan con la posibilidad de donar dinero, pero si te encuentras en España (especialmente en Valencia) y quieres donar alimento u otra cosa para mascotas, felizmente lo recibiré y enviaré a Caracas. También la difusión de la campaña es muy importante, así que puedes compartirla por todas tus redes sociales. Y si te encuentras en Caracas y deseas ayudar a transportar el alimento, ¡eres bienvenido! O si sabes otro idioma y puedes ayudar traduciendo este mensaje, pues también; hay muchas formas de ayudar.

Mi nombre es Devi Carolina Salas Olortegui, médica egresada de la UCV, actualmente residiendo en Valencia, España. Tengo una larga historia como rescatista de perros y gatos, y en Caracas he dejado bajo el cuidado de mi madre a mis 6 gatos y 5 perros. Por ser tantos animales no he podido traerlos, pero gracias a mi trabajo aquí puedo ayudar a mantenerlos y alimentarlos. Venezuela is going through its worst moment in History,  it's impossible to escape the news on the topic as it is the worst crisis seen in the Western world nowadays. Children and adults dying from hunger, from diseases that had already been eradicated making a comeback as such in the case of diphtheria. There's no one who can escape the crisis, and this includes pets.

The minimum wage in Venezuela is of 18000bsS at the moment (February 16, 2019), that equals to €4.26. This hyperinflation has lead to food and other products being sold in dollars with absurd prices. For example, a kg of dry dog food costs €20, the price was given to me three weeks ago, every day it rises even more, and many times it’s sold in bags without tags so you don’t even know what you are buying.

As euronews reports: “According to the association dedicated to animal rescue, Voluntarios Proteccionistas, more than 3 million dogs are homeless. ‘The crisis has forced people to leave the country and abandon their dogs, some people abandon them because they can no longer sustain them’ explains Alicia Velasco Viso to Euronews, president of the association, and she adds ‘the humanitarian aid is necessary for them too.’

Despite all the adversities and the constant battle for survival that Venezuelans go through, many refuse to abandon their beloved pets and feed them thanks to family abroad helping them or sharing what little food they have with their pets little by little.

Why did I decide to start this Gofundme?
In Caracas not only did I leave my mother behind, but also my 6 cats and 5 dogs, but thanks to my job in Spain I am to help buy food and send vitamins/medicine for my pets, however, the cost of pet food in Venezuela is getting surreal. Sending €100 and it being barely enough for 5kg of food is absurd, so I have decided to buy the food myself and sending it seaways. This is what I have been able to do to help my pets, and I would like to extend the help to many other animals that struggle to survive.


So, what's the plan?
Recollecting money for the cost of the food here in Spain and sending it seaway. I would also like to include pesticides for fleas and flea collars.

Who would I give the food to?
I've decided not to work with organizations and similar in Venezuela. I know there are many and I know that they do great work, but my idea is to help the everyday citizen, to those who fight every day to survive and still share what they have with their pets and stray animals.

Independent rescuer currently has 2 dogs and 1 cat in her house, all of them rescued. She also feeds two dogs from her street and two other nearby her place.


Esther Di Blasi de Alvarado
Esther started feeding a few cats and ended with more than 10 cats in her house, 3 dogs and also takes care of feeding stray cats and dogs from around the old country club of Maracay.

Venuska Canino (@Ralkm)
She has 15 dogs and 9 cats. She also feeds stray animals from around her neighborhood, which are harder to have control of as they come and go as they please, but they are at least 4 more d0gs and around 10 cats. You can get a description of all of her animals here.

The Goal
I would like to start by sending 50kg of dog food and 50kg of cat food and distribute it between the people I've picked. I have calculated the budget based on the last shipment I made of food for my own pets. If everything goes well and we are able to collect more money, well I would like to little by little keep sending more food and amplifying the group of people who will receive the help.

What will you get out of it?
Aside from the satisfaction of knowing that some dog will shake their tail thanks to you, or that some cat will purr in your name, I've thought that any donation over 10€ the donor will get a cat-picture as a thank you <3

I understand that not everyone is able to donate money, but if you are in Spain (especially in Valencia) and want to donate food or anything else for pets I'll be happy to receive it and send it to Caracas.
