السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته
Dear Brothers/Sisters in Islam,
We hope this message finds you in the best of health and ever-increasing emaan, Ameen. I write to you on behalf of Masjid As-Salaamah, Inc. Located in Columbus, Ohio. The masjid is a 501C3 organization and was established in 2010. Masjid As-Salaamah’s primary goal is establishing the proper worship of Allah and educating the Musims and Non-Muslims on how this can be achieved. Since its inception, we have seen the masjid’s numbers multiply! This growth in number is partly due to the strategic location of the Masjid, after the grace of Allah, and the many services that it offers.
Along with the five daily prayers (and Jum’ah), we offer tahfeedh Quran for all age groups and both genders. The memorization and study of the major books of Islam is also a staple in the masjid. While we are grateful that these courses are available at As-Salaamah, we also place importance on affairs outside of the masjid. Community outreach and marriage counseling are an example of the service that we offer to the Muslim community. During Ramadan, the masjid serves iftar to an approximated 150 people and conducts taraweeh salah and tahajud. We serve a diverse, predominantly immigrant community which demands strong and accessible institutions. All praise is due to Allah, the congregation’s time at the masjid is eased by our bilingual and multilingual interpreters.
All of these activities are feasible, and have been successful, with the help of Allah, and we thank him. However, the population of the masjid is growing, and thus we need to expand the masjid to include the new building that was purchased on April 18,2010 for $625,000. This new building will provide more parking spaces for the Muslims along with other benefits. We have paid most of the money and have $119,000 left and time is running out as the deadline is 04/18/2020. If we don’t pay off the balance by the deadline, the new building along with all the money we have invested in there from the muslims who donated, will be taken back by the owner. Therefore, we need your Urgent support to ensure that we pay off the balance by the deadline.
Although we have actively engaged in fundraising, it has been difficult to bridge the financial gap. We are requesting that you aid us in our efforts to keep the vital religious and community services alive. We hope that, with the aid of Allah, you join us in this humble (and humbling) effort. ‘Uthman ibn ‘Affan (May Allah be pleased with him ) said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (may Allah raise his rank and grant him peace) say, “Whoever builds a Masjid seeking the Face of Allah, Allah will build for him something similar to it in paradise”
Allah said in the Quran an example of those who spend from their wealth for Allah’s sake, that it comes back in multitude.
"The example of those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah is like a seed [of grain] which grows seven spikes; in each spike is a hundred grains. And Allah multiplies [His reward] for whom He wills. And Allah is all-Encompassing and Knowing. Those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah and then do not follow up what they have spent with reminders [of it] or [other] injury will have their reward with their Lord, and there will be no fear concerning them, nor will they grieve.“ (Surah al Baqarah:261-262)
So with firm belief we know that Allah does not waste the reward of good doers, and giving charity helps us purify ourselves as Allah mentions in the Quran,
(103. Take Sadaqah from their wealth in order to purify them and sanctify them with it, and Supplicate for them. Verily, your invocation are a Security for them; and Allah is All-Hearer, All-Knower.)
Paying sadaqah doesn’t make a person become poor but rather it does the opposite, and our enemy (shaytan) doesn’t want you to purify your heart and for your wealth to increase by spending in khair. Allah warns us from him by telling us,
[Surat Al-Baqarah 268]
Shaitan (Satan) threatens you with poverty and orders you to commit Fahsha (evil deeds, illegal sexual intercourse, sins etc.); whereas Allah promises you Forgiveness from Himself and Bounty, and Allah is All-Sufficient for His creatures' needs, All-Knower.
We urge you to hasten to a good deed in which, In Sha Allah, you will be recompensed for. May Allah reward you for taking the time to read this and to pass this message around, so all our brothers and sisters can partake in investing in their akhirah. We are your brothers coming to you with an urgent need to pay off this building in its last moments. May Allah make us among those whom the Messenger of Allah (may Allah raise his rank and grant him peace ) said, “ The Believer towards another believer is like a building, they support one another.”
Help us support the community that has put their sweat and money in helping pay this off. We ask Allah to accept from us our righteous deeds and forgive us for our shortcomings. PLEASE HELP SPREAD THIS MESSAGE SO IT CAN REACH MANY IN SHA ALLAAH.
