Masks and PPE for Medical Workers - Tacoma

FabLab and ZEVA  members all over the Puget Sound are using their 3D printers to print the masks as well as a plurality of printers at FabLab Tacoma  in conjunction with Madigan Army Medical Center . 

FabLab and Team ZEVA  are donating machine-time, design-time, labor, and over $500 worth of filament to this cause. We are helping organize volunteers and people with 3D printers to join the cause and help with assembly and distribution.

The Fab Lab Tacoma Team would like to take a moment to tell you all, “Thank you for all of your support and generous donations”.  There are a lot of exciting things happening at FabLab Tacoma.  Because of all you as of April 2nd, we have raised over $3K which was much needed to purchase more materials, acrylic for shields and additional supplies necessary to expand our capacity.

We are proud to say that on our first day of production we made over 200 face shields and printed and received nearly 150 3D-Printed Masks. With many of these items provided to Madigan Army Hospital on Joint Base Lewis McChord. We are also working with other hospitals in the area as direct requests come in.

It is always great to see the community comes together during a time that we need each other the most. Again, thank you all for your generosity and we hope that everyone stays healthy and safe during these difficult times.

At many requests, we have increased to a stretch goal to $6000. The need is great and materials are expensive! We are thankful for the many volunteers that have helped assemble and process the masks and face shields.

4/15/2020 Update

Thanks to your ongoing generous support, FabLab Tacoma has surpassed our $6,000 goal! With the help of our volunteers and suppliers, we have transformed your donation into:

 * Over 2,000 Face Shields 
 * Over 400 3D-Printed HEPA Filter Masks

We have delivered this critically needed PPE to the following local hospitals: 

Tacoma General
Madigan Army Medical Center-Intensive Care Unit
Providence Health & Services, Medical Center
MultiCare Puyallup
St. Joseph hospital
Army Field Hospital (was at Centurylink Convention Center, now in New York)

We are also supplying PPE to First Responders and Community groups, including:

Lakewood Police
Fircrest Police
Skokomish Indian Tribal Enterprise
We need your help to continue to operate and to provide PPE to our community! 

Unfortunately, we have exhausted all of our donated funds to meet our first round of PPE distribution goals. We have streamlined our production methods, and WE STAND READY to increase OUR OUTPUT significantly.

We are increasing our GoFundMe goal to $24,000 to continue the great work we have started! 

With your help, we can use our-increased funding goal to provide an additional:

8,000 face-shields
1,600 3D printed HEPA Filter Masks

As we battle this epidemic together, we at FabLab and ZEVA are animated by the imperative that we must do our best to protect our front-line medical workers. As you know, the demand for PPE continues to rise, and we are working hard by creating that PPE- right here in Tacoma!
