Mason Leigh Moldoven

My beautiful granddaughter, Mason Leigh Moldoven, was brutally murdered. Her body is still at the medical examiner's office for an autopsy. The police department are still conducting an investigation. Mason's grandfather, Mitch Samuels, contacted Sol Levinson, and they have provided a shomer to sit with Mason at the medical examiner's office to guard over her . Mason hated being alone. My daughter Tracie, Mason's mother, would have started this page but is too distraught. My other daughters, Mason's aunts are also finding coping very difficult. I can't believe it. Police believe Mason was murdered. They discovered her body in the yard of the house where she rented an apartment at 1120 Gorsuch Ave. This should happen to no one. I can't get the image out of my mind . Mason who would never hurt anyone, if anything she had the most kind heart and generous nature; to die so violently and alone. I want her perpetrators found and brought to justice. For all the negative things we hear about the police, I have to tell you, that the detectives could not have been more sensitive and kind when relaying the awful news and are still working on her case.
I do not have the money to pay for the fees related to funeral expenses. It will be at Sol Levenson once Mason's body is released.
I am not going to conjecture why she was murdered-that will not bring her back. My husband Barry died over 6 years ago. He loved Mason. When we babysat her, Barry said that Mason was a special child and she was indeed. Hopefully, he and Mason are together now in peace.
Mason's funeral will be held Tues. Sept 8 and Shiva services will be held Wed. Sept. 9. Unfortunately, the homicide investigation still continues. They have not apprehended anyone. We are keeping the drive opened; one to hold a memorial for her later, and two, to fund legal costs in the future, when we hope her murderer, or murderers are caught. We want him/her/they put away so that no other person has to suffer what they did to our Mason and that no other family ever has to suffer the anguish and pain. We were not allowed to view her body and touch her to say good-bye. Again, thank you all for your generous donations and kind sentiments expressed. Sincerely, Chesca Stein
