Mason McDaniel memorial for KnoxWorx
April 23, 2021 started out as a regular day. Tim and I getting ready for work, Mason, our 18 year old son getting ready for school at Knox Worx and checking on Madison , our 20 year old daughter, she is attending Nashville Film Institute. Peyton was walked and fed for the morning We were out to start our day.
A beautiful spring day, we were going about our business routine for the day.
As always I text Mason to see what he was doing on my drive home from work. At 6:13pm he text me back “hanging out with Peyton & watching tv. I love you! See you soon. “
The next text would change our world as we
knew it. Mason text my niece, Logan, and said “I will tell Lance hello for y’all”. Lance passed Away 3 years prior in a motorcycle wreck. Lance is Mason’s FAV cousin.
I checked my phone, his location was ConcordPark on Campbell Station road. With hazards on, driving as fast as I could, I was rushing to get to my child. Praying he was there walking Peyton, as I pulled into the parking lot of the Park, I was numb. Police cars and ambulances had surrounded his car. No one would let me see my child. I was told they were working on him and to let the medics do their job. Praying for God to let me keep him and wondering if this was just a nightmare....After 20-25 minutes, my niece walked over to me where I was Sitting , her sweet face looked at me and gently shook her head “no.” All of our lives were changed forever. Suicide doesn’t happen in our family, it happens to other families not us?!?
Mason attended KnoxWorx He quickly earned his diploma while learning different trades with a group of wonderful kids I have grown to Love The last few weeks of school I would come on Thursdays to talk with them, learn their story and to swap stories about Mason. they loved seeing the food coming in on Thursday and I loved hearing them tell stories about Mason. The funny stories about canoeing, basketball games and of course learning in the classroom. KnoxWorx has become my passion . I lost My son But I have adopted 20+ more wonderful young adults.
My purpose now is to encourage the next group of kids .Learn names, faces and their personal stories . I will forever tell Masons story . I don’t know why he chose to leave us. One day I will . It’s ok not to feel ok. Talk and ask for help. Help is out there. Suicide leaves a destructive path for so many that you don’t realize love you. God is able to bring you through.
My goal with this page is to raise funds to feed these kids one day a week and any other essentials they may need to succeed. 100% will go to KnoxWorx Mainly to provide one meal a Week while building relationships and telling Mason’s story
