Mason's motorcycle accident fund

As many of you know on February 29th, 2016 at 6am Mason was involved in a rather serious motorcycle accident during his morning commute to Bernie's Cafe on 24th street. He has worked as a barista for Bernie for the past 3 years and even spent the last year working double shifts additionally at the Noe Valley Whole Foods located next door to the coffee shop in their produce department. Unfortunately on that Monday morning another driver in a small SUV apparently made an illegal u turn over two double yellow lines in front of him without signalling and struck Mason on his motorcycle. As the result of the accident he suffered multiple injuries including 6 broken ribs, punctured lungs, a broken pelvis that required immediate surgery, a dislocated elbow, a broken scapula and 5 broken bones in his right foot. Mason spent 19 days in 3 different hospitals and is now finally back home. He is facing 4-6 months before he is 90% recovered and will have a future surgery to remove one of the larger screws from his pelvis at the end of 6 months. It is not expected that he will be 100% recovered until at least 1 year and that is if all goes well. So that I (his mother) can continue to be his primary caregiver and will only be able to work limited hours I am starting this go fund me to cover costs that Mason was able to when he was working full time and supporting himself. We have quickly found out that there are many things not covered by insurance including his wheelchair rental, a physical therapy table for at home use, handicapped ramp and his walker. I am raising money to cover these items plus some of his regular living expenses. I am also hoping to get him a mini fridge, microwave set up and a new small couch for visitors. For now he is pretty much confined to his studio room and can not use the stairs to access the rest of the house until May1st. We are so grateful that he survived the accident and feel that he is very lucky however there is a long road ahead of us before he is back to normal. Many friends and family have asked how they can help and we are so grateful for all the love, support and well wishes thus far! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for anything you can contribute.
Sincerely,
