Mason’s Cancer Recovery Fund

Mason was blindsided back in September with an Ewing sarcoma cancer diagnosis. A tumor found at the base of his spine was causing severe pain, rendering him unable to work and sidelining him from life in general. This all happened during what was to be the happiest time in his life. He was newly engaged to his beautiful fiancé Sydney, and the two were looking forward to starting their life together. We all watched helplessly as he spent his 23rd birthday dealing with the horrible side effects of his first round of chemotherapy. Everything takes a back seat when your health is in question.
Over the last ten months, Mason has endured a long road of intense inpatient chemotherapy, outpatient chemotherapy, and radiation. It has been an arduous journey, full of ups and downs. He has handled it all in a way that has inspired those of us close to him. Mason is a son, a brother (annoying little brother to many!), an uncle (one of the best!), a nephew, a friend and a soon-to-be husband. I’ve watched this Lehman family stand with Mason and continue to trust and honor God throughout this process. On April 20th, we found out the incredible news that Mason’s scans showed no more than some scar tissue left behind in the place of the tumor. Mason now needs to finish his last inpatient chemo and then focus on healing.
My husband, Jared, is Mason’s oldest brother and employer. Mason runs a concrete pump for the business. He’s been affectionately dubbed “pumper-junior” by Jared and is good at what he does. He is as honest and hard-working as they come. It has been hard watching these two navigate this situation. Mason has been unable to work for about ten months now, and the recovery from his intense chemo will take many more. Jared and I have been watching this unfold from the beginning and have frequently felt helpless other than continuously lifting Mason in prayer, which I believe moves mountains.
However, THIS is a practical way to show Mason and Sydney love and support. He is not asking for this, but we would love to see them be blessed through this journey. Cancer has touched so many lives, maybe even yours. So it’s safe to say most of us understand how difficult this journey is to endure....add to that, he is only 23 years old, just getting started in this life and working hard to provide for his soon-to-be wife. Their wedding date is set for November 12, 2022 (there’s another beautiful God story, as that is his parent's wedding anniversary!). This is a tangible way to show our support for them, give them back some of what’s been lost, and help provide funds for them to start their new life together with a little less stress.
