Mason's Fund for Housing at University

Hello friends and strangers!

As you might already know, I am f i n a l l y transferring to UC Santa Cruz in September to finish my bachelor's degree in Earth & Planetary Science.

Why I'm raising money/what it will be used for:

I am ecstatic about starting at UCSC. However, off-campus affordable housing in Santa Cruz is nonexistent. The funds raised will be used solely for the purpose of securing housing which will most likely be an over-priced Air-Bnb or for a deposit and first month's rent if I find a relatively affordable room in an apartment.

I'll save the exorbitant details of the backstory: but my education progress was severely disrupted and mine and my partner's life completely destabilized by a job loss, eviction, and ongoing legal issues with the abusive landlord who evicted us from our home in 2020. We also lost our angel Blanca (the sweetest kitty you'll ever meet) just 2 months ago. It's been an exhausting 2 years and having a smooth transition into this next chapter would be a huge relief.

Extra Funds Raised:

If there are any extra funds past my goal amount set here (I will factor in any payments via Venmo/Zelle/Cashapp etc.) - I will pay it forward and allocate the funds to another student at UCSC experience housing/food insecurity and will provide updates.
