Mason's Next Big Surgery
Donation protected
Anyone that knows Mason, knows he has the most infectious smile and the heart of a warrior! Now it's time for us all to rally our support for Mason and his family as they prepare to set voyage for Philadelphia at the end March for Masons' next big surgery. I don't know about you, but I could use some good karma and this is one sure way to not only attain some of that but also to do a kiddo whose going in for ANOTHER big surgery a solid!
This surgery is crucial, reconstructing his bladder to be appropriately sized for someone his age/size and help save his kidneys. Last year, his Mitrofanoff (the procedure he had last year that made a channel from his belly button to his bladder so that he can be catheterized/have meds through it) did not relieve the pressure on his bladder as we all had hoped so his Urologist from UVMMC has sent him down to Philly.
The plan is for Mom and Mason to leave March 30th, then admitted to children’s hospital to place a feeding tube and prepare for the big long surgery the following day. He will likely be hospitalized for a minimum of 10 days and then may possibly be required to stay in town for a few more weeks if Mason isn’t able to make the 7-hour trek home. Money is also needed for Dad to be flown down once the surgery and recovery have been deemed successful so that he can assist in the transport home, as it would not be safe for Mom to be driving back with Mason alone.
Totaling up the gas, hotel, and food on top of the other stressors of unpaid work, their family with two other children (one of which is a toddler) split up for two weeks and missed school days is all stress that can be lightened by your help. The missed schoolwork alone is enough for any student, let alone parent, to stress over, and especially consider the medical nature of her paramedic classes! Then add on missing family, bills stacking up, extra childcare for little sis, and taking care of themselves.
Your help will allow Amber to focus on her cub and keeping him comfortable so please, help me do Amber and Mason a solid. Let's raise enough money to put them up at a hotel close to the hospital campus, fly Dad down for the return mission, fill their bellies of healthy food, and a full gas tank.
Amber never asks for any help and was reluctant to even accept me pleading with her to allow me to start this fundraiser. However, I could not bear the thought of not reaching out to all of my caring generous friends that can help. Your generous donations will help our friend, future nurse and one heck of a mother, keep her family cared for in this challenging time.
Any money raised over the goal amount will be used to help pay the debt that Amber is in from previous spouts of time off to care and transport Mason from his other surgeries, as well as the debt from replacing Masons’ hearing aids, wheelchairs, and other necessities.
Please, please, PLEASE, if you can help alleviate any of Mason and Ambers stress, we will all be forever grateful!
