I am not a blood relative but they are my FAMILY. I am an Auntie to their children, visit with them daily and have been there through thick and thin during the processes this humble and stoic man has had to deal with.
I’ve known Orman and his family for 15 plus years and have experience the trials (literally), the tribulations, and the emotional devastation that he and his family have been subjected to and struggled with since 2004 when a case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time, turned into a nightmare. I am asking for help and support for this man’s fight for justice. I want him to have completion. I believe Orman shouldn’t have to fight against this military/government bureaucracy to get the finalization, the apologies, and an “official” acknowledgements for their culpability, but yet I am asking.
IT'S BEEN A STRUGGLE...
15 years ago there was a miscarriage of justice. Master Corporal Orman Savage was faced with a false accusation, wrongfully convicted, incarcerated and forced by the military and government to wait 6 years after he was proven innocent to get his life back and be allowed to serve again in the military.
He asked several times for compensation for his legal fees, but he was told there was no policy in place to make that happen. Upon hours of personal research he found the policy. During this his frustration grew about being lied to and then to find out that too much time has passed to pursue the military avenues to seek compensation that is owed.
He has now been forced to mount a civil case to fight for his previous defense fees (to prove his innocence) and damages that this false accusation has done to his reputation in both the military and civilian careers as well as his family’s financial situation resulting from this horrible miscarriage of justice.
Considering all the payouts made by our government to other injustices in the past couple of years, it’s shocking to see this injustice not being handled in the same manner. He has been told by the government to continue with his civil suit if he wanted to see any compensation.
Due to the previous legal expenses of over $250,000.00 he is unable to retain legal services of a competent lawyer on his own. I’m asking for any support or assistance that you can provide and help this man receive the final justice and completion to this horrible situation that no person should ever have to deal with. In order for him to do this he will requires the funds immediately.
It would also be very helpful if you could send a letter, an email, a tweet or anything to the Prime Minister and the Minister of Defense to do the right thing and make things right with this man.
Funds will go into a holding account and be withdrawn by his legal team once the lawyer is retained. Should this case be handled out of court all donations to this GoFundMe will be forwarded to the Wounded Warriors Canada.
It would me the world to me to help him start a new chapter in his life and a completion to these very hard times. Thank you in advance for your support.
