Support Organizations Bringing the Joy of Math
Donation protected
There is now a 2024 prize for non-profit organizations around the world spreading the joy of math!
The Math Power! Prize, part of our suite of Math Power activities, is designed to draw attention to the importance of mathematics and numeracy skills and to publicly recognize the amazing work of these exceptional organizations working in their communities and globally.
Prior to our 2022 award, there did not exist a dedicated prize for this type of global recognition.
Awards are given to organizations and/or programs that have demonstrated sustained depth in their commitment to the advancement of mathematics and numeracy. The identified organizations, selected through an international jury of experts, need to meet the highest standards of excellence in their operations and services.
Your support will enable us to:
1) Provide more 2024 Math Power! Prize awards;
2) Develop a 3-year campaign for the Math Power! Prize;
3) Support more awards, possibly with higher funding levels and additional technical support, to exceptional organizations which are competitively selected through a juried review process;
4) Showcase the work of these organizations at in-person (e.g., our annual Symposia) and virtual events, and through other promotion opportunities (e.g., video interview featured on our Pulse Media Channel);
5) Develop an annual Math Power! Good Practices guide based on the work of top-ranked applicants; and,
6) Build out the network and activities of math champion individuals and organizations involved in our Math Power Community of Practice.

The mEducation Alliance was established in 2020 as 501(c)(3) non-profit organization by Anthony Bloome, our founder and Executive Director.
Tony has worked in the field of international development for around 30 years, including at the World Bank, Peace Corps, and USAID.
While at USAID, Tony established the All Children Reading: A Grand Challenge for Development and served as a Library of Congress Literacy Award board member. He always felt there should be something equivalent to these awards for celebrating the work of organizations focused on math, particularly with 87% of primary school-age children in low-income countries not achieving minimum proficiency levels in math compared to 8% respectively in high-income countries. (Global Partnership in Education, 2023)
The mEducation Alliance's overarching mission statement is that "Learners everywhere should have access to Wondrous Learning!"
Among other activities: 1) we are the largest convening platform of development, donor agencies, and other organizations focused on appropriate and sustainable uses of education technology, particularly in low-resource developing country context; 2) we support global math, STEM, literacy, and youth-development initiatives, including several related communities of practice; and 3) we organize annual conferences, such as our Symposia (e.g., our 2024 event is themed STEMtastic Adventures!) of stakeholders who share common interests in helping learners in low-resource settings.
Please visit the mEducation Alliance website to learn more about our organization and how to support our work, including the Math Power! prize.
