Mathew Opalinski Memorial Fund

We are devastated and heartbroken that David’s father, Matt, died unexpectedly on Thursday afternoon from natural causes. He was only 45.

Kristin and Matt have been each other’s confidants and best friends since high school. They co-parented David and supported his dreams. They often all three traveled together for hockey tournaments.

Kristin and Matt were working together to raise their son David into a fine young man. They put him first. They had already made plans to celebrate David’s 13th birthday together in three weeks. This next weekend will be Father’s Day…

This is all so, so hard. We are all so sad.

These are such difficult days and the future path has been completely recharted. We are devastated, but we are determined to honor Matt's memory and provide a bright future for David as he and his mom Kristin try to move forward without his love, friendship, dedication, and support.

Your donation will be used to help keep David engaged in Hockey and provide the financial stability needed as he grieves and matures into a man in the years to come. We hope this fund will also be able to fund his education after high school, ensuring David has every opportunity in the future.

A Celebration of Life for Matt will be held on July 30th from 1 to 4 PM at the Michaywé Pines Golf Course clubhouse also known as “Inn The Woods at Michaywé” located at 1535 Opal Lake Rd, Gaylord, MI 49735.
