Mathews Kids' Relief Funds

Leah Mathews is a 4th year student in the BA Psychology program at UTSA, which she attends as a 2018 Traditional Terry Scholar. When Leah was 13 years old, her mother passed away in a tragic accident. The 8 children she left behind now live in Pearland, Texas. The other (now adult siblings) & Leah have taken on a role that was never supposed to be theirs to have - a parental one. 

Leah's father is a doctor and has financially supported his children all of their lives, but in 2013 when her mother died, he refused to show up to the children's house for several days after being notified of his wife's death. The children never received consistent trauma therapy after this, and any promises to do so were never fulfilled by Dr. Mathews.

Around August 2021, Leah's sisters came to her about continued sexual abuse still happening in the house. Their mother had always accused her husband of sexual abuse when she was still alive, but when accused by her (or any other woman who accused him), their father's only rebuttal was that they were "crazy" and "delusional." Their father is also very physically, emotionally, and verbally abusive and the children have been witness to multiple acts of violence, both before the death of their mother and after.   

There are currently 4 minors in the family, one has been removed for her own safety, and CPS investigation is still ongoing for all of them. The other adult siblings (besides Leah) currently reside in the house as well. 

This GoFundMe has been created to offset the cost of legal fees, housing costs, and any other expenses as Leah fights for her & her siblings safety & well-being.
