Lou Weinstein, the owner of Mati's Deli in West Dearborn, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, August 1 2023 while scuba diving - doing something that he loves. His loved ones are so devastated, yet we remember his funny, adventurous and loving spirit. The memory of Lou Weinstein will surely be a blessing forever.

In lieu of flowers and support to Lou's immediate family, Barb, Brittany, Jerry and Jules invite you to financially support our wonderful and generous staff at Mati's: Heather, Angie, Tammy, Kelly, Tanna and Julianna. Lou loved his staff dearly and you could always find him when Mati's was open, working alongside his beloved staff. We would love for our Deli family to be supported during the restaurant's closure for bereavement and to ease the transition back to having Mati's fully back open. All donations will be made directly to Lou's longtime friends and staff of Mati's.

We are so grateful for our community and for all of those that loved Lou so much! Thank you again for all the love and support during this time.
