The emergency Matriarchal Alliance for Accountability and Transparency is responding to an increase in survivors of predatory practitioners coming forward and moving through crises. For them, we've collected nutrition care packages, support with emergency housing, and lined up resources for mental health care. We see the vision of ongoing education as necessary to the prevention and addressing of these harms and are offering a curriculum to the community in response to the growing need for sexual assault literacy in the wellness and psychedelic community.
MA’AT acts as an intermediary and resource hub for distributing care packages and weaving advocates, mostly other survivors and women of color, herbalists, paralegals, and care providers, to provide care around them. We are operating as an intermediary network to search for and supply resources directly to the survivors.
Why We Need to Do MA’AT
People seeking help deserve better than this, and current systems have continued to fail people falling into the hands of practitioners who misuse their power. We believe that it is important to restore Ma’at, the Egyptian concept of balance and justice. Ma’at is essential for maintaining a healthy community, and we believe harmful and unskilled practitioners and the people who protect them have disrupted this balance.
Our Impact So Far
With the support and ongoing care from the community so far, we’ve been able to send out 15 care packages to various survivors, raise almost $5,000 to help with bill pay, clothing, and nutritional needs, and held council and care circles with providers and survivors.
There is still a lot of work to be done, but we are getting the word out and things are changing on the ground. The story is landing in the right people’s hands, and we are really praying that this story can reach far and wide to help prevent more harm from happening.
Survivors deserve more than an apology; they deserve inspired action.
This fundraiser is being managed by MA’AT, an unaffected party on behalf of survivors, so that people impacted may remain anonymous.
