Matt Coyner's Fundraiser for Aplastic Anemia
Donation protected
At the beginning of November, I began to get extremely sick. After just a few days, I knew it was time for me to go to the hospital. What I thought was just a serious case of a cold turned into something I never would have imagined. Dozens of blood labs were taken shortly after I arrived at the hospital, and it turned out all my blood cell counts were low. The next day I was transferred to a hospital in Pittsburgh for more urgent care. At first, I was extremely scared because I never got any straight answers. After a miserable week in the hospital, it turns out the doctors think I have a rare condition called Aplastic Anemia. This means my body doesn't produce enough blood cells that are necessary, leaving me extremely exhausted all the time and immuno-compromised while prone to excessive bleeding. This also means after a whole year of quarantining, I am once again stuck inside to protect my health. For my treatment, I will either be receiving a few weeks of ATGAM or chemotherapy and after that I will be getting a stem cell transplant, leaving me in the hospital for at least another month. After my treatment hopefully starting in late December, I need to stay within an hour of the hospital for 3-4 months so they can monitor my health which means I need to also get an apartment within the Pittsburgh area. If I am lucky, I will be back in my home and back to normal by April. I understand everyone in the world has had a pretty rough year, but I would be more than grateful if you donated me any amount of money. I really need donations in order to pay off both my hospital bills as well as my apartment in Pittsburgh I will have to live in. I geniunely was completely blindsided by this and did not expect 2020 to end this way for me. I can't go out to the gym or do a lot of the things I love right now, so I am also asking that you help me remain positive during this time. I know this is going to be an extremely tough journey for me, but I also know there is nothing that can stand in the way of me living my life to the fullest. Thank you all very much for your love and support.
God bless.
