Matt Daly Fighting Leukemia

Hi, my name is Kathy Olsen and I am raising funds for Matt Daly who was recently diagnosed with Leukemia. Matt is like a son to me (he is my ex-husband's step-son, and step-brother to my two sons) as he and his sister and my sons all grew up together. Matt has a heart of gold and is the hardest working young man I know (he's an Eagle Scout!). Matt was in a great place in his life just prior to his diagnosis. He had a job he loved, and just a few weeks ago got engaged to Stephanie, the love of his life. He was living in an apartment on his own, supporting himself and working hard for Waste Management. He has so much to look forward to with a wedding in 2025 and the start of a new life with Stephanie.

In late January Matt was feeling unwell, like he had a bad cold, but then woke up in the middle of the night unable to breath. He called his mom, Dawn Selzer, who lives nearby, and then drove himself to the emergency room at Port St Lucie Hospital. They discovered he had partially collapsed lungs and needed a blood transfusion. After a couple of days of tests, they diagnosed him with Leukemia and transported him to Advent Health Orlando where he will be for at least 30 days.

Matt has an immediate loss of income, but still has bills to pay. While Matt does have heath insurance for now, there will be bills that will not be covered. Matt will likely need to get Cobra for health insurance which is quite expensive, as he will no longer be able to work. Matt's future is unknown, but his focus is on treating his Leukemia so he can back to his life with Stephanie.
