Matt Garrity Medical Expenses
Donation protected
Matt Garrity recently discovered he had a brain tumor after having an unexpected seizure. His medical team recommended and completed a surgery immediately to remove the tumor. The results of the biopsy have diagnosed the tumor as stage 4 glioblastoma brain cancer. This is a rare, very aggressive, and difficult to treat form of cancer.
The next step for Matt is an aggressive follow up treatment plan including radiation and chemotherapy starting on 9/21. Matt and family are also exploring cancer gene specific clinical trials to halt growth and recurrence.
The diverse friendships and impact Matt has made across the Seattle community is a testament to what a great human he is. Many of you know him as the co-owner/operator of Giddy Up burgers in Ballard or as your favorite bartender from the Luau, Triangle or Ballroom. Some of you know him through music and his band 17th Chapter. Maybe he was your favorite staff member at the Clearwater school. For me it is the friendship built in sports as a teammate playing ISL and over 40 softball.
The initial surgery, radiation and chemotherapy treatments, and clinic trials will all create a financial burden for Matt and his family. The total costs are unknown. Funds from this campaign will be used to help cover out of pocket medical expenses not covered by insurance as well as supplement living expenses related to getting Matt healthy. Any help that you can provide is forever appreciated and will help Matt and family focus on treatment and quality of life.
