In March 2021, Matt was diagnosed with Grade 4 Glioblastoma, a formidable brain cancer.
Matt underwent surgery, chemo, and radiation with excellent results. He was also accepted into a remarkable clinical trial at Duke University, which has some of the best trials for Glioblastoma.
For almost two years, Matt remained cancer-free. However, recent MRI scans revealed regrowth at the original tumor site, prompting us to seek another clinical trial.
Together with Matt's family, oncologist, and the team at Duke, we chose a new Phase 1 clinical trial at Duke.
SEPT. 18, 2024 UPDATE:
Matt has consistently had brain inflammation since June which has made his mobility and speech a challenge. So he, along with family and his Duke medical team, have decided to come off the second trial. As you can imagine, this was a very difficult decision.
The current plan of action is to continue the Avastin treatments locally for the swelling, and to increase their frequency to attack the new tumor growth. In addition to this, his Duke doctor has added a new chemotherapy drug, also administered locally.
Matt continues to travel to Duke every four to six weeks for his MRIs and meet with his medical team there.
Your support will help with Matt's new medical needs.
And, as always, we deeply appreciate your support and heartfelt prayers!
