Matt Martin’s Fight Against Cancer
Donation protected
Matt Martin was diagnosed with Anaplastic Thyroid Cancer. This is an extremely rare and very aggressive type of thyroid cancer. (Approximately 600 cases per year and most of those in patients over the age of 65.). Matt was released from the hospital yesterday. He has to have radiation every week day (M-F) and also have chemo on Thursdays for 7 weeks. This means they will be traveling 1.5 hours each way to/from the hospital 5 days a week. He started the chemo this last Thursday. He goes back Tuesday to have a feeding tube put in his stomach (for future use due to irritation of the throat). His radiation will start then on Wednesday.
This whole thing has been a shock to all of our family and friends. For those of you that don’t know, Matt is my big brother. Of all people, I would have NEVER have guessed that he would be diagnosed with cancer. Maybe I always thought of him as being invincible. He was completely healthy and just lost his voice about 3 weeks ago. After not getting it back after a week, he went to an urgent care place and was told he had bronchitis. He took the medication prescribed and after a week, he still had no voice and was very tired. He took his X-rays to his physician and was told to go to a specialist immediately. He was then sent to The James Cancer Hospital at The Ohio State University. It was there that they diagnosed the cancer. He is super strong and will fight through this! However, he can still use all the prayers and positive thoughts he can get. Please continue the prayers and positive thoughts if you would. Also, placing him on your prayer lists at your church would be wonderful.
Any financial assistance, positive thoughts, and prayers are greatly appreciated!!!! Many thanks in advance!!!!s
